As part of her ongoing artistic research on bonding practices with the living world, Petja Ivanova travels through rural regions and peripheral landscapes in Bulgaria, recording songs shared with her by village singers and local communities. The recordings happen through relation and the slow building of familiarity: Singing together as a way of entering connection.

Within the practice, folk songs are approached as carriers of atmosphere and another form of perception. Some even seem to hold entire landscapes inside them and love somehow sings through these encounters, as a force of attachment moving between bodies, fields, breath and heart and land.
The work forms part of Ivanova’s wider inquiry into planetary embodiment and the wound as a site of opening.
